Canyoneering Guide Certification

In order to gain your technical skills competency to add to your foundation guiding course, we offer preparation training courses and accredited assessment for various technical skills.

Canyoneering Guide certification is an advanced level of certification requiring both previous Mountain Walking Guide and Abseil Guide certification, as these skills form the foundation of canyoneering guide certification.

You will love the skills and our awesome way of presenting it. All our guide training courses are designed to equip you with a variety of skills and to lead you to completing successful certification.

Course Duration

Our Canyoneering Guide training course runs over 5 full days. Public courses (open enrollment) usually starts on a Monday and ends on the following Friday, meaning you only have one week to take off work.

We do occasionally run part-time courses, please enquire with us.

We can schedule this course for groups and companies to suit your dates.

Topics & Content

The course is a mixture of theory lectures and practical in-field training.

Topics include: equipment; mountain leadership; group dynamics; mountain hazards; self-defense for mountain guides; advanced navigation; safety-on-steep-ground and rope work; basic self-rescue; and much more.

Assessment

You can be assessed for various levels of competency in canyoneering guiding.

This includes:

  • Non-technical Canyoneering
  • Single-pitch Technical Canyoneering
  • Multi-pitch Technical Canyoneering

Assessment includes written exams, and a practical in-field assessment.

Assessment can take 2 to 4 days depending on chosen scope.
